Got some points last night

May 15, 2007

I played live last night.

Out of about 60 people, I got 10th. Not too bad. Got some points but I need more to make the finals.

I played pretty good. All the hands I won were because I went in with the best and didn’t get sucked out.

There were 2 hands I made a lot of chips from.

In one hand I had pocket A’s. A guy in front of me raises the pot $2,500 when the blinds were still $300/$600. I put him on a high pocket pair so when it came to me, I went all-in knowing he would call. He did. He flips over pocket K’s. My A’s hold up and I double up.

In another hand I was in the BB with 10 8 off. Flop comes 10 8 rag with 2 hearts. I didn’t bet cause I wanted to catch someone goofing around but it checked around. River comes up, another 8. So now I have the FH. Someone bet a medium size bet and I just called cause I wasn’t in trouble and I wanted to see if someone would hit. The river is a heart.

Three hearts on the board…yee haw. Well, I was right. Someone was chasing the flush. He bet about 5k. I raised and just doubled his bet. Any more and I don’t think he would call. He calls and he flips over his cards like he got me. I flip mine over and he had to look twice to see the FH. He never saw it coming…I love that!

After that, I went card dead for a long time. I made it to the final table and in my last hand I had PP 9’s. I was in middle position so I raised pretty big. The big stack calls.

Flop comes 10 rag rag. I didn’t put him on a 10 so I go all-in. He calls and flips over A J.

Well, the turn shows a A and, just to rub salt in it, the river shows a A. I understand the initial bet call but the all-in after the flop call was pretty donkyish. He didn’t put me on a A K, A Q, or pocket pair?

He was one of those guys that was having a good night. I don’t know if you have seen them before but on some nights you get that one person who just can’t do anything wrong. They are very lucky and take out a lot of players.

All in all it was fun.

Hopefully, I will be around one or two nights this week. I am scheduled to play in the SNG challenge on Thursday. I may however need to make a trip to Iowa for a machine repair. I will know better tomorrow.

See ya all later…….

    Ok Bud. Game On!
It looks like I won’t have to go so I should be there to kick a little Blasphemer Butt!

Nice one Dave. You are right of course about one player who can do no wrong, even after making a very poor decision. Just look at a few of the past world champions - Moneymaker, Raymer and more recently Gold. They were all extremely lucky en-route to the world championship.

But not to worry mate… one day it could be you with the golden horseshoe firmly wedged between your butt-cheeks.

Good luck in tonights game BTW. I hope the you and Blagz both come croppers to a Varmint! ;-)

The funny thing is, when we talk about the horsehoe thing it revolves around someone who wins hands when the shouldn’t right? I mean you’re right, the player made a poor decision or he goes in with the second best hand and wins. So, do I really want the horseshoe? If claims are made that I have a horseshoe up my butt, that means I am winning hands I shouldn’t be winning. Or, I am hitting cards that are marginal to begin with.
Does that make any sense? (I am on the Twisted Logic Team..lol)

I sure wouldn’t turn the horseshoe down. I was just thinking about the whole thing.
    Tonight should be fun.
Boy, even when you type I have a hard time understanding you…lol
What the heck is a “come croppers”…lol

I know exactly what you mean, met one today in an omaha h/l sitngo.

chipleader with some 8000 chips bullied the table with 4 of us left. i was in third got ace k 2 of clubs and an ace of diamonds on my 500 bb wich decreased my stack to 1500. no 4 called too. up came 4 8 j of clubs.

I betted 1000 and this guy reraised me allin no 4 calls allin and so did I. he shows trip jacks, turn came q of spades and on the river of course the jack that gave him quads.

At least i made the money but still, this guy played exactly after the book as you should but boy did he get lucky there. I couldn’t get pissed at his bullying, he dominated the table totally. Respect!!

Got something to say?
