Ginger nuts are the best dunkers

November 16, 2006

WooHoo! Last night I was fully 100% wide awake when my regular private league started!Perhaps I should explain, I am in the UK and even though the league I belong to is UK based, most of our games do not start until 11pm UK time. This is to accommodate our overseas players (mostly USA) and it is not uncommon for me to nod off on the couch after my evening meal and waking up just as the games are starting. Subsequently for the first 30 minutes of most games I enter I am half asleep.

But, last night I was wide awake and itching to go for a change.Yup, all pre game preparations were in place before the kick off! Fresh pot of tea brewed and ready to pour, couple of ginger nut biscuits, a slice of fruit cake, clean ashtray, fresh pack of smokes. I was set for the duration.Which was unfortunate, because I didn’t even make the first break. Played reasonable poker, was patient and about 30 minutes in, made a double up, shortly followed by another sizeable pot, then back to sipping my tea, nibbling me cake and waiting again. Sure enough 10 minutes later another playable hand emerged, only to lose 70% of my stack to a well known “chaser” who did that just that and chased my raises to a river card, which hit for them.It is totally frustrating to lose 45 minutes of solid patient poker to those sort of hands/players. Managed to chip back a couple of small pots, then just before the break went all in with AJ suited on the big-blind only to be called by the small-blind with pocket aces. Nice timing Blag, you putz!

Still that’s poker and I wasn’t at all upset, the small-blind (onlySteph® league member) played it exactly right with the strongest hand and it paid her off. I watched Steph through to the final table where after an extraordinary sequence of incredibly bad beats, she went from very comfortable chip leader to out of the game.

I am not sure who won the tournament because another league member seduced me into going off and playing sit and go’s at another poker site. Where over 3 games I fared rather better with a 1st, 2nd and 4th. Much better than Lardog® the twister of arms, who managed to press the wrong button and folded a pair of aces, 3 handed on the big-blind. Classic man! Sort of made up for the advice which put me out on the bubble. LOL

The chat room was very lively, during the evening and became very noisy and amusing as the league tournament reached the final table, mostly due to Dallas’s® eruptions of discontent as his chip stack was hacked away, ending with (an admitted) tilt all in bet that was well beaten. My ears are still ringing from the 30 seconds of audio that followed that beat.

I actually recorded some of the ‘highlights’ of the chat in the room and may include some selected funny clips on the blog here at some future date. You can always come to the chat room though in Paltalk and look in our room “pokerchipsquad.com” where at a bit of prompting I may be persuaded to play one or two live for you.

Well it’s Omaha Hi-Lo again tonight.. sheesh.. another donation from Blagger to the pool then I guess..

It’s was a fun night Blag!! I took a second at a $20 sitngo after we closed paltalk. And never listen to me when I say things like “I don’t think he’s got it” or “You got it, Man”. Too many beers and bong loads contributed to my folding those Aces, but who can say they’ve never hit the wrong button before. LOL
Great blog going here Blagger, Keep up the good work!!
