Blagz has re-entered the building.. sorta.. nearly

June 27, 2007

Again I find myself apologizing for the dearth of any news or new content on the blog.

I do have a pretty good excuse this time for not being as active as I would like to be. Well a couple of good excuses;

* 1 - It is still summer and
* 2 - I managed to get slightly ill.

Not immediately life threateningly ill, but bad enough to stop me in my tracks and to get me in the local hospital pretty sharp-ish.

One minute I was chatting with my family doctor at his practice, next thing I know I am laying on a trolley bed,

in a hospital ward with tubes sprouting out of my arms and hands.

Still, home again now and … weirdly enough, not bursting to get back at the tables, just yet. I have played maybe 4 SNG games over the last month, just to see if I could get the itch back and even though I won 2 and placed 2, the ‘bite’ wasn’t quite there.

It may be the medications I am on at the moment, but I know after 10pm my brain is just so much scrambled egg and I am just hurting for my bed and some Zzz. I expect the poker hunger to return as my health returns back to normal. (normal for me that is)

I also had to stop smoking rather abruptly (had to stop a lot of things rather abruptly) and the one area of my daily activity that is acutely synonymous with smoking is playing online poker. In a three or four hour session I could almost chain smoke my way through an ashtray-full of cigarettes.

Perhaps when I am more confident of my own self assurances that, “I do not smoke any more” I will be happier sitting down for some real sessions of online poker once again.

I do not smoke.. I do not smoke.. I don’t want to smoke.. I want some sugar free chewing gum .. I want some gum.. I want some more gum…

..I don’t want cheek muscles like Thumper!..

Poker Stuff..

The internal forum team SNG challenge has fizzled out as the organizer has quit organizing and ended the challenge, four games early.

I think most of us have a lot empathy with Gopher (the organizer) as there wasn’t a single game that wasn’t caught up in some little drama. People not bothering to turn up, people forgetting to turn up, reserve players sitting on the side, aching to play but never being called up, etc..

Which is a shame, because many of the players in the challenge were enjoying the competition and of course the good humoured ‘baiting ‘ and joshing of one other.

Obviously the re-building of my web site has been put on the back burner for a while here, but I will be picking up the pieces and starting in on the work again sometime over the next few days. I’ll be moving the blog to the new web site also, but that should be a pretty seamless event, in either case there will be an auto redirect from these pages. ;)

Talking about the web site, I heard through the grapevine and several different sources, that some of the folks in the PCS website were most unhappy that I had the audacity to even think about building myself a new web site?

So much so, that recently in the PalTalk Chat room there was a whole evening dedicated to berating me and generally running me down in my (hospitalised) absence. About what? I hear you ask.

Well that is a good question and one I mean to get an answer too, soon, especially as “allegedly” there was a veiled threat made, again bravely done in my absence.

If I am going to have a drunken tirade aimed in my direction (albeit my absent direction) I’ll be wanting one of two things; either an apology or an explanation of the brave assault on my (absent) character.

Ok … well……. whaddyah do?.. Just get on with life I guess.. lol ;)

There is quite a backlog of work on my desk I have to wade through and I have two new pallets of stock sitting waiting for me to sort out, so it’ll probably be after the weekend before I get back to the felt.

The end of next week is my target for getting my web-site live, it is only a target and work and health commitments will influence my ability to reach that goal.. but we’ll see eh..

Good luck on the felt folks.. till the next time..

Well, it’s about time you came back….lol. Welcome Back!

I too, haven’t been playing too much. Like you, I have almost the same issue. 1. It’s summer, so if it is nice out, we go out on the boat and fish or just cruise around the lake. By the time I get back, all you guys on the other side of the pond are fast asleep. 2. I have been telling myself to try to quit drinking so much when I play on-line. I haven’t been too successful at that one. It just seems natural for me. Chain smoking and drinking…lol
I was on with Dog and Anne Marie on Tuesday and played 3 or 4 sng’s. Prior to that, I think the last time I played was at least a week ago.
Regarding the forum stuff. I almost wrote a post about it yesterday on my blog. I don’t know what is going on over there but to me, it is getting childish.
The SNG Challenge was fun but I side with Gopher on cancelling. When you can’t get a bunch of adults to make a commitment then honor it, it isn’t worth the effort.
I have seen Netty a little here and there and Lippy has been lurking but I haven’t run into him on Skype recently.

I am glad to see you are on the road to recovery. Hopefully, you will be back to 100% soon so we can play a game or 2 and I can kick your butt!

Welcome back to the living Bro and I wouldn’t worry too much about getting active on the tables again. That will come in time as your strength returns and as you get all your meds dialed in. And as for your record thus far, your way out in front with 4 for 4 paydays and 2 wins. I’ll take quality over quaintly any day.

As for poker, I’ve been all over the board and can’t seem to stay on a winning run for very long so my accts have soared and shrank until I’m about where I always am, the old 2 to 7 buck sng’s. Now I’m not bitching, I’m having a great time with the skype crew cause someone is around every night and the poker and banter can’t be topped.

You have been missed cause everybody and their brother has been asking about ya, well, everybody in the skype sect that is. hehe

As for the SNG Challenge, I hated to see it end too, but with all the crap that happened before every game I understand why Gopher gave up the ghost. And with that over I will be moving on from the new forum.

As a matter of fact, the only reason I joined the “New Forum” was because some people were bitching and moaning that I was on a team and not a member of the forum. So I reluctantly joined under a name only a few people would recognize.

My reason for not joining the “New Forum” had nothing to do will the members, staff or Rich. I was quite happy playing the league/forum games and as all of you know, I played as often as anybody when time and commitments allowed. It all has to do with where the forum was heading back too.

We had a big shake up in the old forum about a year ago, over people wanting to move up in stakes and I must say I was glad to see all the members jumping out there and playing the bigger buyins and reporting back on their results.

So, a few members and staff made a big jump up to $20, $30 and even $50 but with poor results, it wasn’t long until they moved back down and are still playing the lowest level games.

I remember a post that was made in the old forum about moving up in stakes and the last few lines almost beggingly asked us not to end up back in freerolls. I took that to heart.

A few of us members had just started hanging out in Skype and we had some great nights of poker and camaraderie and along the way we became better poker players as a whole and we have enjoyed more than our share of payouts along the way. I’m glad to call all the skype sect my friends and I hope they feel the same way.

I’m glad to call Rich, the staff and all the members of the old forum my friends also, but I can’t stay with the new forum.

From the first time I visited the new forum to have a look around, I pretty much knew I wasn’t going to join. The look and feel was just not right for my eye, not to mention the poor spelling and numerous errors in grammar, I just felt I needed more.

I want a site that presents itself professionally and has valid original content. I can’t settle for less. Enough of the disconsolate and rancorish rants, enough of the spam and meaningless posts and enough of the freerolls from hell.

A good portion of the Skype Sect are Americans and can’t fund a thousand new sites, but we play along building our accounts, so why move to a new site.

I’m happy being on the outside now. I’ll find a place to hang out and hopefully add some new members to the skype sect along the way.

I’m looking forward to lots of poker and fun chatter in the next few months, so I hope to see all my friends at the tables. Til then …

    See Ya on the Felt

Sheesh.. Everyone wants me well again.. just so they can beat me up on the felt.. lol..

Dog I recall that “begging” plea for us [the members] to NOT return to playing freerolls again. It came right after Rich “closed the league”..

This was actually a very confusing time for me, for when Rich posted he was closing up shop and the reasons why he was closing up shop, I went ahead and agreed with him.. In public here on the blog.

Only to be villified and attacked for doing so..In retrospect, I think I was supposed to do the opposite and plead and beg for him to continue with it all… I am going to cover this whole episode in my next Blog entry. But, be reassured your memory is as good as ever, here is a direct quote for you.

Please, please don’t end up back playing free-rolls to fund your account.

The irony of those final words, in light of the situation today, are not lost on me either. ;)

Hell of a way to wake up.A little scarey too I would think. There’s nothing worse than becoming sick at the start of summer.
As far as the smoking…that sucks. Being a bus driver, I can’t always smoke when I feel the urge, and driving a load of screamin kids around only aggravates the situation.
My little helpers are nicotine patches. Available in different strengths, they help the anxiety levels like you wouldn’t believe. This also helps my health overall because I’m not sucking the smoke directly into my lungs. Godsends if ya ask me.
As far as Gopher’s challenge thing,..chit !!!..I’m still peed about that, but understand why it had to end. Grownups that can’t be responsible. Makes ya wonder how their kids survived.
I’m confused as to why the discord with your site and the league. I’m not aware of what the argument is over, or even what your “New Website” is even about, so i’ll leave that all alone.
Overall, we are glad to hear your doing better, and wish you good health, and I hope you can eventually finish up enough of your projects to come and play a game with us. : )

Hey nice one Mr Lipmiester! First person that don’t want me well just so they can kick the crap outta me on the tables lol..

I considered all the options regarding stopping smoking, yanno the gum, patches etc. But yanno nothing beats being forced to spend a few days in a place full of older ex-smokers for giving your willpower all the encouragement it will ever need. Worked for me, I can’t say I don’t miss a puff now and then, but a quick memory flash-back and that urge disappears pretty damn quick lemme tell yah.

“Discord” LOL .. Nicely put. Well Lip I don’t know either, not sure it is an argument as I don’t have a clue what I should be arguing. I tried to clear it up one night in Paltalk but the servers were playing up and it proved impossible to discuss anything.

As I have no intention of installing a “flash chat” module of any kind I’ll have to pursue it through the blog and hope for answers or maybe through the PCS forum but if past history is anything to go by I expect the post/thread will get deleted as soon as it is seen as casting a possible bad light on a certain person.

Thank you all for your concerns and good wishes, but, keep yah fingers curled tight around your chippies folks don’t be fooled into think I’ll be a soft touch when I play ya’ll again.. Yanno that “itch/bite” returns so swiftly when I am playing against one of you lot.. ;)

Got something to say?
