The Nigh is End?

April 18, 2008

Well it took some time and effort for me to prise open the cover of this particular book. I had to soak the hinges overnight in ‘3in1’ and still ended up jumping up and down on the jemmy before the cover would budge. Was it really that long ago since I last updated the blog? Hell yeah…!

So.. personal life aside what about poker and more specifically my poker exploits? As I mentioned in a comment on SvcMgr’s latest blog entry, I have been mostly if not totally poker inactive for the year so far. Read more

The problem with online poker

March 3, 2008

Going by the title of this post, you might be expecting a rant from me about how online poker sites are rigged, or there are too many sites who allow ‘colluding’ etc… but you’d be wrong! Online poker is going about it’s business just fine. Yes, there have been a few issues been highlighted at ‘reputable’ poker sites, but the outcome of these incidents should give us some faith in the online poker in general.

My problem with online poker is that it has adversely affected my live game. I’ve hardly played a live game this year. Last night was the first time since the beginning of January that I had played live…. and it showed (at least to begin with!) Read more

Slowly but surely…

February 21, 2008

It’s been a busy few weeks for me away from the tables, but I’m slowly easing myself back to the virtual felt. I’ve had plenty of time to think about the game and to do a bit of self-analysis.

There are loads of ways to do it, and here are a few of the things I have done…… Read more

It feels like my game is coming together more and more, the mojo is back at ground-level! But the tourny i played last week bugs me, I’ve never seen so many back to back to back pocket-pairs in my hand before. Read more

The Best Laid Plans of Mice & Men

January 12, 2008

“The best-laid plans of mice and men go oft awry”, a commonly used quote from the poem “To a Mouse” written by Robert Burns. Frequently used because of its prophetic accuracy and I’m using it as the title for this the first blog entry of 2008, for exactly that reason.

I set some targets at the beginning of the year, things I was to strive for in my (online) poker life. Nothing unrealistic, quite attainable with some application and discipline. To be in profit by $5k at the end of the year. Indeed I had achieved almost 25% of my target by the end of January and then as often happens, real life reared its ugly head and like so many men and mice before me, my plans went awry…. Read more
