Emotion, Aggression, and Tilting
January 30, 2008
We have been discussing these subjects lately and I would like to offer the following comments..
First, emotions and poker are like oil and water, they don’t mix.
I have been thinking about this for a couple of reasons. Number one, I ran into an emotional issue while playing the other day and I was called on it and number 2, I am trying to improve my game so some introspect is always required.

A Barren Week
December 15, 2006
Wow, seems an age since I last opened this page up.I have been on a self imposed sabbatical from poker for the last week. There are various reasons, amongst them is the fact this is a very busy time of year for me, along with a 48hour bug thrown in there somewhere and a need for a little break from the game.
Fortune favours the … Maniac’s

Well, I played the 1st game of the league tournament games for December, last Friday night. I tried to keep in mind what I had written about in my last post and…………… I went out early.
Yet I am confident the strategy worked. The first 30 minutes of the tournament I was pretty dominant and was chip leader practically from the off.

After admitting to myself that I simply cannot play every league game, because of the time difference (99% start at 11pm my time) I am left with a bit of a dilemma. So far this week I have not played a league game, so what do I write about?
Well as I haven’t been playing I can’t really write about that aspect on a personal level, but I have been observing and listening, so maybe I can tap out on the keyboard here some of my ‘takes’ on what I am seeing and hearing from outside the loop. So with that in mind, today’s blog is going to be slanted towards a more serious post. (not entirely serious of course, that’d be impossible for me)
Molasses and Sunday afternoon’s
November 26, 2006
Well, anyone who has read the blog regularly will have noticed a trend. That being, I seem to play most of the league games half asleep.I managed to up the ante last Friday night and actually played whilst asleep! I kid you not, about 35 minutes into the game I felt my eyes closing. So I did the usual thing of lighting a smoke and sitting myself up in the chair, blink rapidly and a shake of the head and then I am usually good for a while longer using this technique. Usually.
Not this time though. Just before the hour mark I snapped awake as the “beep” from the poker site was timing me out on my bet. Urgh, Ok I resign myself to the fact that I really am not going to win this battle. The hourly 5 minute break comes and I say goodnight to everyone and drag myself off to brush my teeth and to bed. Leaving my average sized chip stack to the vultures to pick over.

Did I say back Wednesday? I of course meant Thursday.
This’ll be a double header, both Thursday’s and Friday’s posts in one.
