Well i started a new stat-tool to keep track on how much i buyin, win, loose and on what! I had too when i felt i kept going in circles regarding progress.

I want to become a better player and to accomplish that i changed a lot, i have stepped up in buyins, i started to analyze my games more efficiently/differently and i'm taking more pokerfree days where i do something else just to keep the hunger for the winning and to become more patient.

Yeah I didn't make myself that clear before, what I was getting at was the monotony of playing the same level buy ins for the last 1,2,3 years is getting to yah.

Off the top of your head could you tell me how much you have won/lost this month? Unless you have had a big win I doubt yah could tell me. Because it doesn't mean enough to you, you can't recall. Possibly there's your problem right there, or at least a part of it, maybe?

To be honest guys I know how much you think about the hands you are in, the depth of your thinking about pot odds, pre flop betting, general betting patterns etc.

And you really are playing for the most part against a very inferior opponent. This why you are constantly frustrated and become worn down with the bad beats and ridiculous calls that hit the river.

Even playing the $20-$30 SNG's for the most part the players still do not think to the depth of analysis that you do and you'll still get unfathomable calls and bets.

Either you learn to incorporate the donk calls and bets into your overall strategy (pretty impossible) or you get a lot more selective on where and whom you play.

This is partly what i wrote about in august in my post about bad beats... And you're right about going back to basics analyzing what it was that got you interested in this game in the first place....

I loose due to not being focused enough to read the opponents right! That is my biggest fault but it still my fault and not due to bad beats or bad streaks at the different sites! I know that and i'm working hard on it

And i do miss the skypecrew who yelled at me at the table, there i learned most of the patience

By the way netsson's blog is back!

Thanks for the comments Dave.

Full Circle.... I used this phrase only in terms of my own experience. I have came full circle from where I was way back in March. I'm hoping that it doesn't turn out to be a 'vicious circle' and I eventually end up in the same place again.

As for being bored - is it because of the monkey play that we become like this? Is it that deep down, even before a card is dealt, we know what is going to happen in a game and therefore mentally dismiss our chances to win? That would bore the pants of me, knowing I'm not going to win. So is the boredom just a mentality thing? Could it be construed as losing sight of our goal? I'm no psycologist, but we all know that positive thinking helps us to do whatever tasks we undertake, a whole lot better.

You say you are just burnt out with poker Dave. I had a wee think about this and came to a conclusion.

To me, this poker problem is like your favourite piece of candy. You will buy your favourite piece of candy day-in day-out. But there comes a time when, to even think about eating that piece of candy turns your stomach over. You've just eaten too much of it. You've made yourself sick of it because you have consumed so much of it. But if it's put on the table in front of you, you will still eat it, even though you now couldn't care less for it.

A basic analogy, but it does simulate what could be happening to us at the tables. We have played so much poker, that we have now lost the 'taste' for it. But if someone asks you to come and play a game its all to easy to open up a poker client and sign up for a game. It's basically put in front of you, and more often than not you will play, even though deep down you don't really want to or couldn't care less.

I have played no poker for almost 2 weeks now. I have started doing things other than poker. If I go on the computer, I play those silly (but addictive) games that come with the Windows XP software (freecell, solitaire etc..) any time I get the urge to play poker. It's a different startegy to the last time I felt like this. Last time I kept on playing while evaluating my game - when I went 'back to basics'.

This time, I'm still going back to basics, reading my, and others' past blog entries, reading poker articles etc... But I've not played any poker. I'll soon find out if this time out makes any improvement to my game when I play this weekend.
