I should have not brushed everyone with such a broad brush. There are some people that are in or were in that league that were/are prepared to help other people.

Notably non are Admin except Gopher and I would argue his status as an Admin. lol Sorry bud..

All the bloggers by definition are trying to share their stuff with everyone. Pinkdog I know has taken several of the members aside and helped them immensely with their games.

Apologies to those that do and are trying to help each other, despite the best efforts of the new (is there an 'e' in) Third Reich?

Hi Dave.. I have kept my comments to a bare minimum so far, I am sure when I get around to making my own blog entry I’ll have more than enough to say about the ‘forum’ debacle.

I’ll summarise a few thoughts though. Sorry if this not very constructive it is difficult for me to feel positive about a forum which is being run by idiots.

First off, running a forum is only as complicated as you make it. With these off the shelf forums you can set up a board in 5 minutes. The only complicated part or area that needs planning is how you are going to lay out the forum. You no longer need to be a computer geek to do this these days.

If the board (any board) is set up correctly, with some preplanning and thought gone into it, then the board for the most part will run itself. All that is required is some topic and post moderation by selected mods etc. It will become time consuming ONLY if you constantly fiddle and change and meddle with settings etc

I will say this about joining a poker league, assuming you are relatively new and still learning the game, it will teach you the meaning of tightening up your game etc. Yet the real worth of playing with people that are more experienced than you is when they take you aside and pass on some of that knowledge or share it with you through their playing of the game with you.

What I learned from that particular league was how to educate myself on poker, I don’t recall one incident of a senior player helping me or trying to help me, including moderators and the admin. I made some friends from the league with whom I now chat to and play poker with meeting up on Skype and that is where 90% of my poker education came from, definitely not from the actual league or forum. I’ll explain some things about this topic in my next post on my blog.

I doubt you’ll see many of the real players kicked out if any. The one time players and free roll artists will find themselves pruned probably, that is until the Admin decide free rolls are the way to go again (hmm 3 months time?) and open up the doors and invite all and sundry in. Lol You just know it is gonna happen sometime, again..

There are a lot of leagues and forums out there Dave and with hand on heart from all the ones I have seen and visited there is nowhere near the level of drama and histrionics you see on the PCS boards. All forums possess their allotted quota of nincompoops, donk players, donk posters etc.

Not that many seem to have the same level of nincompoops trying to run the site though, those ones have by natural selection become somewhat of a rarity.

I agree it is a major shift in thinking if the idea now is to keep the “free-rollers out” it seems like only yesterday we had all had to endure the “35 post” and you are in, fiasco. Or those free-roll Weekends where there were 4 games a day.. lol

In the comments of your last post Anne Marie mentioned the board had changed from a social area with free speech to being similar to a dictatorship where only comments or posts that followed the ‘party’ line were allowed. Rather ironically when I pointed this out on the forum I was banned for doing so..

Guess that is called hitting the nail right on the head with that call.. and subsequent response from Herr Admin.

Good luck with the new regime Dave and see yah on the felt as always..
